Explore the world of children’s book illustration during this six-week class offered through Visual Arts Center of Richmond. We’ll focus on translating the written word into dynamic and entertaining images, taking your ideas from preliminary sketches to finished illustrations. You’ll learn about character design, page layout and painting techniques. You’ll also get a deeper understanding of the publishing industry when we cover things like finding a publisher, the current state of the marketplace and examples of successful children’s books.
